Since 2016, Concern has been providing vocational training and Turkish language training for Syrians in Sanliurfa in order to help them to find a job. In 2019, Concern reached 464 people with livelihoods activities. Livelihoods activities are implemented in coordination with the employment agency ISKUR, under the provincial directorate of Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services (PDoFLSS). In addition, Concern has organized job fairs to link potential employers with Syrians who are looking for work. In 2020, Concern expanded these activities to include registration of small business for Syrians and entrepreneurship training with business startup grants. Livelihoods activities are also accompanied by life skills training and livelihoods counselling to prepare Syrian for entering the employment market.
Under the “Building Tomorrow” programme, Concern is helping both Syrian and Turkish youth to attend vocational high schools and helping adults to access language courses, vocational training, and transition into formal employment.
